To enhance Hennepin’s growth as a car­ing com­mu­nity of faith, the Con­gre­ga­tional Care Min­istries offer pro­grams that pro­vide ser­vice and sup­port to its mem­bers by its mem­bers. These min­istries include:

• Blood Pres­sure Screen­ers – Licensed health care pro­fes­sion­als take blood pres­sure read­ings on the sec­ond Sun­day of each month to screen, assess, and iden­tify mem­bers with blood pres­sure issues, and to make refer­rals as needed. They also pro­vide health edu­ca­tion to help pre­vent com­pli­ca­tions related to blood pres­sure problems.
• Care Notes – Care Note pam­phlets, which offer guid­ance for cop­ing with a vari­ety of life’s chal­lenges, are pro­vided and avail­able on the lit­er­a­ture racks.
• Con­gre­ga­tional Cards – Each week, mem­bers sign cards that are sent to Hen­nepin mem­bers and friends who are ill or in need of prayer support.
• Con­gre­ga­tional Care Monthly Newslet­ter – Let­ters that recap the high­lights of the month in church and share the joys and con­cerns of mem­bers are sent to home­bound mem­bers and “snowbirds.”
• Down­town Coali­tion Grief Sup­port Pro­gram – Hen­nepin coop­er­ates with other down­town churches to offer weekly edu­ca­tional and sup­port pro­grams for those who have expe­ri­enced the loss of a loved one.
• Funeral Hosts – Vol­un­teers pro­vide com­pas­sion­ate sup­port to the fam­ily, offer a wel­com­ing pres­ence to guests, serve at the reception/luncheon, and assist as nec­es­sary before and after the funeral/memorial service.
• Hennepin’s Grief Out­reach Pro­gram – Let­ters of con­do­lence, with infor­ma­tional enclo­sures about cop­ing with grief, are sent to mem­bers three times dur­ing the first year after a death in their family.
• Pacem Singers –The spirit of God’s love is con­veyed through song to mem­bers who are con­fined in their home, a care cen­ter, or hos­pi­tal­ized due to ill­ness or age.
• Prayer Shawl Min­istry – Mem­bers knit prayer shawls for pre­sen­ta­tion to per­sons expe­ri­enc­ing chal­leng­ing times and in need of the com­fort and spir­i­tual sup­port that a prayer shawl can pro­vide.  The group meets monthly for fel­low­ship as they knit.
• Prayer Team – Prayer team mem­bers offer daily prayer sup­port for Hen­nepin mem­bers and friends as requested. Requests lists are pro­vided from the church each week.
• Vis­i­tors to the Home­bound – Vol­un­teers deliver plants and visit with home­bound mem­bers at Easter and Christ­mas to con­vey love from Hennepin.
