Two of the World’s Best Jugglers Come to Hennepin for One Night Only.
Internationally renowned jugglers Jay Gilligan and Wes Peden launch a 21-city tour of the U.S. and Canada with the premiere performance in Minneapolis at Hennepin Church on May 4th at 7:00 PM. The Shoebox Tour 2012 is a presentation of all new material in the “modern juggling” style—focusing on artistic presentation of virtuosic object manipulation. Jay and Wes will present 725 brand new tricks written for four hands.
Jay Gilligan regularly performs with the top circuses throughout the world, including Cirque du Soleil, Cirkus Cirkör, Cie Jérôme Thomas, and the Gandini Juggling Project. He holds the most gold medals ever awarded in the history of the International Jugglers’ Association and is the head teacher of juggling at Dans och Cirkushögskolan, the Swedish National Circus School in Stockholm, Sweden. Jay has performed for the Queen of England, and the New York Times has called his juggling “marvelous.”
Wes Peden won the Bronze Medal at the 33rd Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, the most prestigious international circus festival for new performers. He has performed in 17 different countries, including shows for the King and Queen of Sweden on three separate occasions. Wes graduated from the Dans och Cirkushögskolan with a degree in juggling, and currently holds a juggling world record according to The Guinness Book of World Records.
Both Jay and Wes are consistently ranked in the top 20 of the annual rankings by the international juggling community. Jay has been in the top 20 every year for the past decade, and since entering the rankings six years ago, Wes has captured the number one spot four times.
