Over the years, friends Ellen Sundell and Kathleen McDowell have raised over $10,000 hosting fabulous tea parties to benefit Hennepin-connected programs important to them such as Community Meals, the Dignity Center, and Knotty Quilters. The pair’s latest cause is Imagine No Malaria.
On Saturday, June 9, Kathleen and Ellen welcomed 24 guests to a delightful 3-course garden tea in Kathleen’s backyard. Guests enjoyed homemade scones, quiche and cookies along with cheeses and fruit and three kinds of tea. In addition, small baskets of exotic vanillas, coffees and teas were auctioned off.
Kathleen says she and Ellen love cooking up tasty treats for these events. “It’s our way of offering hospitality while serving a need in our global community,” says Kathleen. “We see this as a win-win ministry by building awareness of the varying concerns that can change lives, and how we can make a difference.”
The garden tea raised nearly $2,000 for Imagine No Malaria, the equivalent of 200 mosquito nets. Please watch for additional ways you can support Imagine No Malaria in the months ahead.
