Summer Programs

Each year Hennepin Church offers a fun, faith-filled experience through our Vacation Bible School, or at a camp or mission location.

VBS

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a week long event in the summer for children ages 3 years through 4th grade. Children participate in crafts, games, singing, and stories that center around a fun, relevant, Bible-based theme.

Earth Camp

Children who have completed 1st through 4th grades are eligible to attend Earth Camp in July. Earth Camp is an overnight camp at Koinonia, our church retreat center in Annandale, Minnesota. In addition to fostering opportunities for personal growth and fellowship, Earth Camp gives children a chance to celebrate and learn more about God’s creation.

Jr. High Mission Trip ( for grades completed 7 & 8 )

These students experience a four service days at a mission location. Past locations have been Madison, WI and Martin, SD. The students provide needed work in the community such as scraping and painting houses as well as providing programs for children or the elderly through out community.

Sr. High Mission Trip ( for grades completed 9–12 )

These students experience five serve days at a mission location. Past locations have been Los Angeles, CA and Hibbing, MN. For students at Hennepin Church, social awareness is a high priority. Before many of them experience poverty and extreme need on a mission trip, many of them have already had some exposure to these types of circumstances. With this age group, we do work, such as home repair and painting…but we also discuss the systemic needs of the community we serve and how we as Christians can address the issues facing this community and future communities in which they may become engaged.

Club 56 Adventures ( for grades completed 5–6 )

This service opportunity is paired with Vacation Bible School. Instead of traditional VBS, these middle schoolers will engage in service to the Minneapolis community. Mission sites can include, Steeple People, Feed my Starving Children and the Dignity Center.
