I have to say that if you missed the spring retreat at Koinonia last weekend, you missed a truly awesome opportunity to experience the Sacred in Our Midst (to borrow a phrase from Bill Mate). I've been to Koinonia a handfull of times but this was, by far, the absolute best. The energy of the Spirit was dancing around us. The fellowship was unparalleled. We pontooned, enjoyed enchanting birding (so I'm told, I wasn't up that early!), participated in great seminars on personal well being, nourished ourselves with reallllly good food, were entertained by Mike Lynch and his knowledge of the constellations, and just plain enjoyed one another. There were too many great activities and experiences to note here, but each and everyone was excellent. I heartily encourage you, that the next time a Koinonia event comes up, get it on your calendar and GO!

Jeff's update on May 6 refers to the Koinonia Board and their "unanimous adoption of (the) new Ministry and Business Plan." The next step will be at the Hennepin Ad Council meeting on June 7.

Update -- This past weekend was a wonderful experience at Koinonia. Among the many highlights for me was the unanimous adoption of our new Ministry and Business Plan. See the note above for details and it was great seeing so many Hennepin community members at Koinonia this past weekend!

UPDATE:
Members Approve Capital Campaign at April 29 Church Conference
(By Bobbie Keller)

At an April 29 church conference, Hennepin members approved a two-year, (2013-2014) $550,000 capital campaign to install a new elevator and renovate the Social Hall and Church of Youth.

After discussing the project and approving three motion amendments, including a budget increase, the more than 100 people gathered voted “yes,” with two abstentions.

Project plans include building handicapped-accessible restrooms behind the Social Hall stage, now a storage area, and a new stage. One motion amendment increased the stage height from 12 to 18 inches to improve audience sight lines. Both the Social Hall and Church of Youth will receive more energy-efficient lighting and new carpeting.

Another amendment asked the architect to consider the building’s vintage character in final project plans.

Foundation Scholarship Applications are due this Sunday May 6th. If you don't have time to mail it to Hennepin Foundation, 511 Groveland Ave., Mpls, MN 55403, then you can bring it by the church and leave it at the front desk. Good luck!!

I am so thankful for this rich diversity of ways to worship, think and remember during Holy Week. Hats off to the staff and volunteers for the preparation and care, helping us to be "broken for good."
