11:00 am, June 3 & 10
Led by Jolene Roehlkepartain

When you write from a deep and authentic place, you can heal and become whole. How can you access this deep place inside of you? What do you do when you meet resistance? How can writing help you thrive and grow? These questions and more will be explored through writing exercises that will help you to open up and make sense of the ups and downs you’ve encountered along your life so far. No writing experience is necessary. Jolene Roehlkepartain is the author of 32 books and member of Hennepin Church.

Today’s Wellness Wisdom comes to us from Hennepin Member Deb Roberts

After hearing about the success another church member had on a diet plan, I went on the first diet of my life at the beginning of this year. I followed the “rules” of the Game On Diet, and since January 3, I’ve lost 15 pounds and kept it off. I’ve felt great the whole time, eating smaller portions of lean protein, whole grains, fruits & veggies, and healthy fats. It also requires getting enough sleep, drinking a lot of water, moderate exercise, taking up a “good habit” and letting go of a bad one, as well as avoiding alcohol and refined carbs of all kinds. I just had lab work done, and my total cholesterol has dropped almost 40 points. I plan to stay on this “diet” for the rest of my life!

This diet is not difficult once one learns the “rules,” what food counts in which category, and to plan ahead! I have never been hungry. One also does not feel deprived since a “meal off” and “day off” are allowed each week, as well as 100 calories of whatever each day.

We believe that you are never too young to share God’s love with the world! Camp MSP got its name because this urban service opportunity will be centered in experiences of Mission, Service, & Purpose right here in the Minneapolis-St Paul area. Camp MSP is for kids going into 5th, 6th and 7th grade in fall 2012. This service opportunity can introduce campers to what it feels like to participate in youth mission trips while affording them the chance to come home each evening to process and share their experiences with their families.

Camp MSP is open to churches from around the area, so students will have a chance to meet and serve with kids from other United Methodist churches around the Twin Cities.

Camp MSP is August 14-16 from 8:30am – 4pm. The cost is $30.

For more information, including a daily schedule, please go to the website: http://campmsp.com/
