Each year we ask you to give a finan­cial stew­ard­ship gift out of grat­i­tude for God’s bless­ings. Your annual pledge strength­ens our church com­mu­nity and keeps the min­istries of hos­pi­tal­ity, out­reach, nur­ture and wor­ship grow­ing at Hen­nepin. It sup­ports our staff and our trea­sured cathe­dral church build­ing, the gath­er­ing place not only for our church mem­bers and friends, but also for a much larger com­mu­nity. We ask you to prayer­fully con­sider sup­port­ing our church by mak­ing a pledge. For you it may be an annual gift—or you may be pledg­ing for the first time. What­ever your cir­cum­stances, a gift of any size is important!

Deci­sions, deci­sions, deci­sions. Our lives are full of them. Impor­tant ones and small ones you don’t even think about. At a point along the way in your life, you picked us — the Hen­nepin Church com­mu­nity — because we are worth it to you.

You love the way your kids react to sto­ries at Sun­day School. You feel sup­ported at the Fri­day morn­ing men’s prayer group. You’ve been look­ing for a place to sing since you got out of col­lege. You’ve met peo­ple who have made a dif­fer­ence in your life, peo­ple you love, peo­ple who have intro­duced you to things you would never have con­sid­ered or known before.

You’ve trav­eled to places because Hen­nepin Church gave you the oppor­tu­nity. You under­stand more of the Bible and where its insights and the face of God show up in your life. You have height­ened your aware­ness of our whole com­mu­nity through Hennepin’s out­reach projects. You like the way Sun­day morn­ing at Hen­nepin starts your week. You have a com­mu­nity and peo­ple to turn to when life fills with ques­tions, joys, pain and sorrow.

Our church life together

We’re a big church with dozens of com­mit­tees, small groups, and projects. We have a
gor­geous cathe­dral build­ing full of tra­di­tion. But it’s not a struc­ture at our heart; it’s our peo­ple and it always has been. We are seek­ers, held by the love of God, grow­ing spir­i­tu­ally in our church life together.

The power of shared stewardship

Despite the fact that we may be spend­ing time on our own par­tic­u­lar pas­sions, we are part of the Hen­nepin Church com­mu­nity. We need and count on each other. It is within our com­mu­nity that our indi­vid­ual oppor­tu­ni­ties arise. Our Hen­nepin Church com­mu­nity needs us to be its stewards.

Finan­cial gifts from you in the form of an annual oper­at­ing pledge keep our min­istries
alive and thriv­ing. They pro­vide for our car­ing and knowl­edge­able min­is­ters and staff and the main­te­nance of our cathe­dral church.

Each per­son, each house­hold decides what you can do to sup­port your life in our church. Pledges make min­istry plan­ning eas­ier. It is con­sis­tent, pre­dictable income. What can we accom­plish in the year ahead? If you’ve never pledged, this is a great year to join those who have been sup­port­ing our church com­mu­nity. May we hear from you? We will put all gifts — great and small — to good use in our ministries.

Want to do more with a cap­i­tal gift?

The oper­at­ing bud­get is always the top pri­or­ity. It pays our staff (they haven’t had a raise in three years) and keeps our build­ing heated and cooled.

If you want to do more, the pledge form will offer you the oppor­tu­nity to sup­port the “bricks-and-mortar” cap­i­tal projects that our trustees over­see each year. In 2011, we have re-carpeting to do in many areas of the church. We also have a num­ber of remod­el­ing projects for the Church of Youth. We will con­tinue to work on sanc­tu­ary projects includ­ing restrooms, light­ing, air con­di­tion­ing and the main entrance.

In 2010, your cap­i­tal pledges, the Nel­son match­ing grant and bequests made
improve­ments pos­si­ble in the phone sys­tem, stained glass win­dows, land­scap­ing,
chapel and parsonage.

Our cap­i­tal goal for 2011 is $100,000. If you can help, we wel­come your participation!
