Each year we ask you to give a financial stewardship gift out of gratitude for God’s blessings. Your annual pledge strengthens our church community and keeps the ministries of hospitality, outreach, nurture and worship growing at Hennepin. It supports our staff and our treasured cathedral church building, the gathering place not only for our church members and friends, but also for a much larger community. We ask you to prayerfully consider supporting our church by making a pledge. For you it may be an annual gift—or you may be pledging for the first time. Whatever your circumstances, a gift of any size is important!
Each year, during the month of November, Hennepin Church participants make their financial pledge estimate for the coming year. You can also click here to download the 2012 pledge card now.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Our lives are full of them. Important ones and small ones you don’t even think about. At a point along the way in your life, you picked us — the Hennepin Church community — because we are worth it to you.
You love the way your kids react to stories at Sunday School. You feel supported at the Friday morning men’s prayer group. You’ve been looking for a place to sing since you got out of college. You’ve met people who have made a difference in your life, people you love, people who have introduced you to things you would never have considered or known before.
You’ve traveled to places because Hennepin Church gave you the opportunity. You understand more of the Bible and where its insights and the face of God show up in your life. You have heightened your awareness of our whole community through Hennepin’s outreach projects. You like the way Sunday morning at Hennepin starts your week. You have a community and people to turn to when life fills with questions, joys, pain and sorrow.
Our church life together
We’re a big church with dozens of committees, small groups, and projects. We have a
gorgeous cathedral building full of tradition. But it’s not a structure at our heart; it’s our people and it always has been. We are seekers, held by the love of God, growing spiritually in our church life together.
The power of shared stewardship
Despite the fact that we may be spending time on our own particular passions, we are part of the Hennepin Church community. We need and count on each other. It is within our community that our individual opportunities arise. Our Hennepin Church community needs us to be its stewards.
Financial gifts from you in the form of an annual operating pledge keep our ministries
alive and thriving. They provide for our caring and knowledgeable ministers and staff and the maintenance of our cathedral church.
Each person, each household decides what you can do to support your life in our church. Pledges make ministry planning easier. It is consistent, predictable income. What can we accomplish in the year ahead? If you’ve never pledged, this is a great year to join those who have been supporting our church community. May we hear from you? We will put all gifts — great and small — to good use in our ministries.
Want to do more with a capital gift?
The operating budget is always the top priority. It pays our staff (they haven’t had a raise in three years) and keeps our building heated and cooled.
If you want to do more, the pledge form will offer you the opportunity to support the “bricks-and-mortar” capital projects that our trustees oversee each year. In 2011, we have re-carpeting to do in many areas of the church. We also have a number of remodeling projects for the Church of Youth. We will continue to work on sanctuary projects including restrooms, lighting, air conditioning and the main entrance.
In 2010, your capital pledges, the Nelson matching grant and bequests made
improvements possible in the phone system, stained glass windows, landscaping,
chapel and parsonage.
Our capital goal for 2011 is $100,000. If you can help, we welcome your participation!
