Building Walls and Tearing Down Barriers is Hennepin Church’s ministry of action in partnership with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
Each year we schedule from four to five Saturday work days at local Habitat for Humanity work sites. With our work experiences we blend work crews of Hennepin Church members and friends with others of very diverse backgrounds. This gives us all a chance to experience new realities and grow in our understanding of how our church neighbors live. Plus we get to get dirty and play with tools; and of course help build affordable housing. No special skills are required and at each work day lunch is provided.
Last year’s work crews included individuals from Hennepin’s Prison Ministry and clients of the Dignity Center. Let’s together build a home for someone and at the same time tear the barriers down to understanding people who may scare us.
