By declaring ourselves to be a Reconciling Congregation in 1993, Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church joined many other United Methodist Churches in inviting the full participation of all persons including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals.

We believe that prejudice, hatred, or discrimination directed toward any individual or group is contrary to the life and spirit of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we shall work to eliminate prejudice and discriminatory practices within ourselves and in our community.

A stained glass window depicting Christ's inclusive love was installed in 2003 in celebration of Hennepin Church's 10th anniversary as a Reconciling Congregation.
