Health Kits for Haiti: Kristyn Ebert Johnson

Thank you to everyone who helped make Health Kits for Haiti a success, espcially the Sunday School classes!  We made 996 kits and would have reached our goal of 1000 if the entire twin cities wasn't out of supplies!  Great job.

Updates and information:  Dear Friends,

There are a lot of updates on the situation in Haiti: We are trying to present them as they arrive.  Please see the links to the right for new content as it gets posted.

Thank you again!

On Tuesday January 12, a devastating magnitude-7 earthquake struck just outside the capital city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. There have been reports of destruction of buildings, disruption of basic services of water and communication and tragic death and injury to tens of thousands of Haitian citizens. Our prayers go to all those in need, and to those experiencing this disaster.

At this moment, the most effective response is financial. Please see the following links for ways you can contribute. At a later time, there may be calls for donations of specific supplies and/or volunteers, but not at this time. Thank you for your generous response to aid our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

Also from Deirdre: The children in this pictured were spared. I shot this photograph at Wings of Hope orphanage (for damaged children - about half are mentally challenged, the rest are either blind or in wheelchairs) in Fermanthe. Unfortunately, their main orphanage, St. Joseph's Home for Boys, was destroyed. Everyone there made it out with minor injuries.
